The Chapter committee is made up entirely of volunteers committed to promoting the technical communication profession in Australia. Elections for the STC Australia Chapter committee are held each year.

April has been involved in IT and technical communication for 25 years and is a senior member of the STC. For the last 10 years she has worked at RMIT. She was a founding member and ultimately the manager of the group which provided 47,000+ students and 3,500+ staff with online learning systems. She is currently the Acting Associate Director - Applications Services. Prior to RMIT she ran a business (Weiss Consulting P/L) which focused on technical communication projects. Mark began his career by working in chemical and biochemical testing and production environments, changing to technical writing in 1990.
Mark has worked as both a captive and as a freelance documentation contractor and consultant for organisations around the globe, mainly in analytical and bio-medical instrumentation and software. Mark has extensive experience with Structured Authoring using FrameMaker, and has designed and conducted Structured FrameMaker training courses for organisations in Australia and overseas.
Currently Mark is training and mentoring technical writers on a large project in Victoria.

Steve Salter has a background in training as a volunteer with the Country Fire Service, business administration and in programming in his current position as Instructional Designer with smallPRINT, producing training material for the VET sector. He specialises in IT, Business Services, and WHS (Work Health and Safety). Steve is a current Madcap Software MVP, an avid reader (as most technical communicators are), and has been known to return flyers with spelling and grammar corrected - particularly those from Secretarial Services and Land Agents.

Bea has a background in the petrochemical industry in the US. She currently holds a position with a nationally owned trucking company in Papua New Guinea and lives, and works, in the nation's capital, Port Moresby. She crafts policies, procedures, templates, flowcharts, org charts, and more for the company focusing on creating documents that are easy to read and understand to accomodate a wide range of literacy levels in the workforce. She is currently working on her PhD in Technical Communication and Rhetoric from Texas Tech in a highly recognised online program.

Robert Levy spent ten years or so documenting software and hardware in the Internet industry in the US. Now that he lives in Australia, he works as the Melbourne tech writer for SPATIALinfo, a small, but influential, company that maps networks for large-scale Internet providers (like the NBN). Robert is a senior member of STC, but new to the Australian branch and its wily ways.
