New Call for Entries
Entries are eligible for awards and each entry will receive a peer critique whether it wins an award or not. The goal of the competition is to recognise and encourage excellence in technical communication.
Competition Categories
In 2009 STC Australia is hosting competitions in three categories:
- Technical publications
- Technical art
- Online communication
Entries of an appropriate standard are entered in the STC International Competition, and Australian entries have won awards in this competition in past years.
Each entrant receives a comprehensive critique from each of the three judges on the category panel.

The 2009 competition dates are:
- Entries will be received from 5 August until 31 October 2009
- Closing date for paid 'early bird' entries: September 30
- Final date for all entries: 31 October
Who can enter?
Anyone can enter. You do not have to be a member of STC to enter the competitions. You can enter work as an individual or team member, on behalf of a colleague, or on behalf of your company.
What can be entered?
An entry is valid for competition as long as it is:
- Technical. The work must contain sufficient technical, scientific, medical, or similar content to qualify as technical communication.
- Recent. The work must have been produced or substantially revised in the 24 months before 1 September.
- Original. The work must have been originally prepared for and accepted for publication by a client, employer, or publisher.
Does it cost anything to enter?
Yes, there is a small fee required for EACH entry submitted. If you're an STC member, or if you pay early, you get a discount! The fees for the 2009 competition are:
- Early bird (by 30 September)
$65.00 per entry - STC and ASTC members:
$70.00 per entry - Non-members: $80.00 per entry
Early Bird entries must be paid for in full or subject to a Purchase Order for the Early-bird fee to be valid. You cannot ‘book’ an early-bird entry.
